Day 151 [Leaky]

After returning home from our weekend away we got a call from our host informing us there was a substance on his driveway where our car was parked.  Upon further inspection at home it appears we have a bit of an oil leak. =(  I took the car in less the 2 months ago for an oil job, it now apparently is low on oil. My husband is trying to assure me it's likely a loose filter or some other easy fix.
I'm hoping so and that it's something he can fix without too much effort. We really don't need the expense of a car problem right now.  So, if you don't mind, cross your fingers and your toes that it's a loose screw that will seal up this problem!

Day 150 [No Boys Allowed!]

2 girls vs. 6 boys
Something's gotta give and that was us two ladies ditching the boys for some peace and quiet!
We headed south of Portland Oregon to a very cool outdoor shopping center in Tigard Oregon.
Bridgeport Village....it's a charming shopping center with some great stores!
They have a furniture/home decor store that I fell in love with.... Z Gallerie
Some cool, different stuff for some pretty reasonable prices.
Love that!
Unfortunately we don't have one here in the Seattle area....boo hoo!
Had a lovely time, just us 2 girls, shopping, talking, lunching...without any testosterone in the mix!

Day 149 [Mexican Train]

A friendly game of Mexican Train Dominos.
Always a fun, smack talking time!

Day 148 [Traffic]

On our way south to visit our friends for the holiday weekend.
At this point we are about half way, stopped on the freeway.
The view looking foward is the same, only with red lights.
Hoping the skies will dry up for a bit.

Day 147 [Opening Night]

I waited and waited.
The day finally arrived!
I went with a new friend to see it on opening night.
We had a great time, laughed our fannies off!
excellent, funny, so worth the wait.
Still makes me giggle and smile today.

Day 146 [Got Paint?]

In prep for our move, I gave the old guest room a fresh coat of paint today.
We are fantastic renters...if I do say so myself!
My plan is to have this house looking better then the day we moved in, 8 years ago.
I chose a color to match the perdominent color on the main floor.
It flows nicely with the color palate of the house.
Since it's been only a year since I repainted the majority of the house (see...excellent tenants are we!) I'm going to miss the very modern/cool colors I painted.  But the change to someplace new and a different way of life is more exciting!  We should be ready to move in about 2 months.
Looking forward to the new way of life!

Day 145 [Taco Tuesday]

Asked the boys what they wanted for dinner...
Tacos was the answer.
Sounds good to me!
I took the extra time to fry up some fresh hard corn taco shells.
Not low fat, but oh so good.
These are a treat a few times a year so they were eaten down with love.
We had the little guy stay with us for dinner tonight.
He was excited and for a 6 year old he can put it away.
2 tacos and a cup of pineapple slices, followed by a slice of banana cream pie.
He told me my tacos were the best tacos in the whole wide world!
Thanks buddy!

Day 144 [So Long Roots]

It's been not so nice knowing you....
tomorrow I'll say goodbye....
but I know you'll be back...
in about two months time!

Day 143 [Shaggy Be Gone]

The boy's hair was a shaggy mess.
Took the boy to the hair salon.
Told the stylist to cut 3 to 4 inches off.
The boy was not overly happy about this but I think he's come around.
It's nice to be able to see his face!

Day 142 [Redondo Beach]

This evening the husband and I went to Salty's on Redondo to meet up with an old friend of his for drinks and some music of another classmate in the lounge.
It's been years since I'd been down to Redondo Beach and forgot how beautiful it is.
The restaurant sits right over the water with amazing views of Puget Sound.
We had a lovely evening.

Day 141 [Six]

The little guy turns 6 tomorrow!
Hard to believe it's been almost 6 years since I became his nanny when he was a tender 12 weeks old.
I love the close relationship I have developed with this special little boy.
Being my cousin's son there is always that family element, but I have a bond with him unlike any other in the family.  I find that special and treasure it greatly.
Big boy Lego's were the ticket this year.
I made that sweet little card for him and he was delighted to open his gifts when we returned home from preschool today.  Upon opening two cool new Lego sets he was busy for hours!
Tomorrow for his birthday he's having a friend come spend the night with him.  His first slumber party!  I know he's going to have a fabulous 6th birthday!
Happy Birthday buddy...love you bunches!

Day 140 [Bunco Night]

Technically I didn't take today's photo, but since I'm one of the subjects I'm going to call it good!
Tonight was Bunco night which my friend Sarah (pictured) invited me into her neighborhood group last year and I continue to play.  We have a great time, it's lots of fun and a nice girls evening out.
Funny how Sarah and I always seem to compliment each other on dress without any forward planning!  She in her jeans, black tee and gree jacket with me in my jeans, black tank and knit cover with my green necklace that matches lovely with her green jacket.

Day 139 [Spring NW Style]

This morning it was blue skies and sunshine, right now as I type this it's blue skies and sunshine.
Several times in between it was the above.
When I went into the store is was dry, came out to this.
Put the bag of groceries in the car and walked over to Starbucks.
Parked in the middle of the lot between the two.
No umbrella for this NW girl...that's how we roll around here.
I was sporting a baseball hat though...keeping my precious hair dry! ;)

Day 138 [Spring Ears]

Corn on the cob...the ears of spring and summer.
I bought some corn cobs on Cinco de Mayo that were just so-so.
I figured it was just a wee bit early, I tried again tonight and YUM!
We prefer sweet white corn over the yellow corn.
These ears did not disappoint.

Day 137 [Self Medicating]

Today has been a day spent on the sofa.
Yesterday I hit the wall and was down for the count.
Today hasn't been much better.
I did venture out this morning thinking I was feeling better, but my body quickly reminded me that I was not feeling better and needed to head home to lay low the rest of the day.
That's exactly what I did.  Happily I'm starting to feel better.
Hoping tomorrow is a much better day!

Day 136 [Boxes]

They are empty, they are littering my living room, they are waiting and they will be filled.  All in due time.

Day 135 [Greenback]

Photo = Garage sale success!!
Thankfully that pile is not all singles....happily it's much larger bills.
We have spent months going through our stuff, piles for donate, garbage and garage sale.
Today we saw two thirds of the garage sale pile walk with happy new owners.
It was a lot of work that was rewarded with a bountiful of greenback!

Day 134 [Right Said Fred]

A quick stop into Fred Meyer today with my husband.
When we pulled into the parking lot we saw this guy mowing the lawn area of the parking lot.
My husband's exact words, "Look, it's Right Said Fred!"
I burst out laughing as he was so right!

Day 133 [Drive By]

Today's picture is a drive by shot.
On my way home from picking up the little guy from preschool I got my camera ready for the shot.
We live near a lake, really it's a water resevoir, that they drain almost empty every winter...it's quite the ugly sight!  The lake has slowly been filling for the past several months and it now full.
The boats are starting to sprinkle the docks around the lake.
I have wanted to take a picture of this particular spot on several occasions as it is a cove of the lake with Mt. Rainier in the background.  It's just off the road I travel every morning to and from preschool.
Today, as you can see, is a gorgeous day!

Day 132 [Prep]

We are partaking in the community garage sale this weekend.
We live in a master planned community so there are A LOT of homes and this annual event is very well recieved.  We have A LOT of stuff to put out this year.  All the stuff you see here takes up half of the spare bedroom.  We have equally as much in the garage to sale as well as some furniture and such.
I'm hoping the weather cooperates and the people come with money in hand.
I would like to see most, if not all of this stuff find new homes this weekend.

Day 131 [Just Because]

...he loves me!
Today he came home from work with these pretties to brighten my day.
He wanted to get me my fav...Gerbera Daisies but they didn't have any.
No matter, I'm happy with any floral love he brings home just because.

Day 130 [Legen...wait for it....Dary!]

This morning I took the boys to the brand new doughnut shop that opened over the weekend near our house.  Ideally I would have taken a picture of the doughnuts in the box, but I didn't quite have photo on my mind until after we scarfed down our delicious breakfast treats.
So I took a picture of the logo on the box.
Don't ya just love the doughnut for the o?

Day 129 [A Birthday & A Mother's Day]

May 9, 2010
Mother's Day and Bailey's 15th birthday!
We left the housein the morning, breakfast at Starbucks then headed into the city for some kayaking.
We have a place near UW that we patronize several times each summer to get our kayaking fix.  We headed over there and got to the place just in time, before the mass of people began to arrive.
Since Bailey isn't 18 he needs to ride with one of us.  It was my turn for a single kayak, so I was thrilled to be in my own craft!  We start off on the westside of the Montlake Cut (for you non Puget Sounders)...the Montlake Cut is the manmade stretch that connects Lake Washington to Lake Union just north of downtown Seattle.  We have always kayaked through Lake Union, so today we headed east to the other side of the cut and kayaked the Arboretum.  It was fantastic!
The Arboretum is a sweet place where no motorized watercraft can get to, so it's smooth water and easy paddling.  It's tucked around the westside of the 520 floating bridge, so you hear traffic the entire time, but somehow it's still very peaceful.  We were on the water for almost an hour and a half and traveled approx. 2.5 nautical miles.  It was fantastic!
We had a hearty lunch, stopped in for a quick visit with my MIL before heading to Ben and Jerry's for an ice cream treat.  They were having happy hour!  2 scoops for $3.00!
We got home and are all beat!  Sun, water, kayaking, food and fun will suck the energy out of you!
It was a good Mother's Day and I believe an excellent birthday for Bailey.

Day 128 [One Day]

A certain someone has a birthday tomorrow.
15th to be exact.
Lucky him he gets to share it with my special day...Mother's Day!
Whipped up a card for him tonight.
He's excited for tomorrow to come. It's going to be a great day!

Day 127 [From The Windmill]

We have a great nursery near where we live.
It's a quaint place that has a restaurant, gift shop, gardens to walk through...it's fabulous.
I stopped in today to pick up some seasonal goodies for two special ladies.

Day 126 [Blooming Clematis]

While I was bringing the trash bins up from the curb to their place behind the gate I passed by the clematis alongside the garage.  I noticed it was blooming so I took a moment to enjoy the blooms.
I thought you would enjoy the blooms too.

Day 125 [Cinco de Mayo]

In 'celebration' of Cinco de Mayo I made grilled tacos (chicken for me, beef for him) tonight for dinner along with some corn on the cob.  It was just me and the boy tonight for dinner as my hubby is at a business dinner in the city.
Surprisingly they are not dining Mexican.
It was a tasty celebration.

Day 124 [It's A Go!]

Got this text this morning from my husband.
He gave a proposal to his company that will allow him the time and support to finish his degree and then put it to use within the company.  He is very excited about the opportunity to do this and I'm so proud of him for thinking outside the box and making things happen!

Day 123 [Swaying]

This picture does not do it justice!

It's virtually impossible to capture the amount of winding blowing at the moment.
It's crazy windy outside, has been since the middle of the night!
This is looking out from the front of our house...the trees are moving like mad.
The windows and doors are creaking due to the gusts of wind.
I can't recall a sunny spring 'storm'....it's odd not to have dark clouds pouring rain down us along with these massive winds. But I won't complain, sunshine and blue skies are always welcome, even if it comes with crazy wind that makes your hair look amess after seconds outside.

Day 122 [Mosaic]

For lunch today we tried a new place.
The food was quite good.
We ate at in the bar, at the bar.
We was struck by how amazing the bar counter top was.
The colors and texture were beautiful!
Not something you would expect to find in a bar, but a pleasant surprise.

Day 121 [NSD]

Today is National Scrapbooking Day.
As an avid scrapbooker, I celebrated this day at my friend's house creating pages and pages of memories.  My friend, Buffy, has an amazing scraproom that is a delight to create in.
We took some time to go out for lunch, which was a delightful break.
We returned back to the creative space to scrap away until the early evening.
A lovely way to spend the day.
Did you create some memories today?
If so, don't forget to document them!
