Day 31 [One Down...]

eleven to go!
Hard to believe we are already marking off the first month of 2010.  It was a month that went by quickly and full of the start of change for our family.  We are looking forward to the eleven months to come and see where 2010 will take us.

Day 30 [Need A Hand]

Today, after a visit with my MIL, my husband and I took a drive up to our soon to be new stomping grounds for a bite to eat and to walk around the park close by.
We came upon these cool posts holding the chain so people don't fall into the Lake.  Once I set my eyes upon these I knew they would be my photo for the day!

Day 29 [Sabotage]

Made these today, sabotaging my efforts to drop some weight, but boy do they taste good!

Day 28 [Us]

It was getting late in the day and I realized I hadn't taken a picture yet.  I also realized that I need to be better about including people pictures, so today is the people picture is us, me and my husband.

Day 27 [Money Pit]

Sitting at the Dentist office while my son is having his teeth cleaned.
It's not been a good week in the Brooks house regarding our dental bill. Between the crowns my husband needs and my son's cavities we are going broke!
Bailey's mouth especially is a money pit!
I can recall only one visit in recent history where we left the dentist after a visit 'bailey visit' without having to make an appointment for immediate treatment.
UGH!

Day 26 [Page Turner]

I had an unexpected day off from watching the little guy, so I spent the better part of the day on the sofa reading my book. I love spending the day lost in a good book.

Day 25 [Use Your Noodle]

I made homemade noodles today for our chicken noodle soup.
Making these made me think of my Grandma.
She made the BEST beef and noodles or chicken and noodles.
So yummy! Makes me miss her and her noodles.

Day 24 [Seeing Stars]

On this wet, winter day my husband and I were out running errands.
We finished up what we needed to do and had some time to kill before meeting up with someone, so we spent that time enjoying our second cup of Starbucks.
It's always nice to sit down with my guy over a hot cup of something yummy and just be.

Day 23 [Mattress Down]

 buh-bye bed of 15 years
after saying goodbye to our bed of 15 years this morning we spent the entire afternoon shopping for a new one. we had one picked out, but wanted to be absolutely sure there was nothing else we might like better. we order our new headboard today and it will arrive by the end of february. we need to buy a hollywood bedframe, which we found one at costco for a very reasonable 38.99 but by the time we realized we needed one the store was closed. so our bed will sit on the floor for this evening's slumber.

Day 22 [Hydrate]

 H2O
I love it, gotta have it, I need lots of it!
Today I stocked the refrigerator in the garage with more water bottles then I care to admit. I have a bit of a 'Jeff Lewis' complex in that I like all the bottles in neat rows with the labels facing the same way. Such a lovely sight when you open that door.
Don't know who Jeff Lews is, then you should watch Flipping Out on Bravo.
I know that bottled water is not 'green', and I really do strive to be 'green'.
Unfortunately for us, the water that comes from the tap where we live it gross and not drinkable (for me anyway...I am a water snob) even when I run it through a filter...TWICE!

Day 21 [Eye See You]

The eyes of me and my son.
His eyes are not as blue as they used to be, I see more of the hazel in his dad's eyes coming into his.
The 'spot' on my eye? That's a mole. We have a very thin layer of skin over our eye that is susceptible to moles just like the skin covering the rest of our body. I have had countless people say to me "Did you know you have a spot in your eye?" I want to flippantly say "NO, Really? I never look in a mirror!" But I'm apparently too nice as I have never directly said that to anyone. I should make that my 'goal' for the next time I'm asked that question! LOL!

Day 20 [Touch Up]

Thanks to my fabulous hair stylist, Cynthia, I'm sporting a fresh new look.
A cut and color does so much for how one feels about that reflection in the mirror.

Day 19 [Goodwood]

Yesterday after dropping Bailey off at the skate park I noticed the perfect lighting by the sun. I went back to take some sure to be great shots of him doing his thing at the park with his board, but unfortunately he wanted no part of it! So, today's shot is in remembrance of my missed chance with that skateboard.

Day 18 [Card Making]

Some time spent in the studio today.
I worked on a birthday card while Jarod sat across from me cutting and gluing paper.

Day 17 [Electronic Sunday]

Quality electronic time on the couch.
Xbox Live for my guy and laptop time for me.

Day 16 [Nostalgia]

Going through boxes in the garage today I came across a box of some old stuff of mine from when I was kid. In this box was my two boxes of The Gingham's paper dolls, Sarah's Farm and Katie's Country Store. I recall many hours as a child enjoying the fun in these boxes.
Also in the box was my box of Magic Mary Lou....magnetic paper dolls.
Aaaah, fond memories of my childhood, now heading to The Goodwill.
I can only hope they will bring another little girl hours of enjoyment.

Day 15 [Flying Flags]

The flags are flying full today.
Wind and rain.
Winter life in the PNW.

Day 14 [Scrap Night]

Thursday nights is scrap night for me and my BFF.
We hang out in my studio creating pages and projects that hold memories our families will treasure forever!

Day 13 [Food]

I'm working really hard to cut my calories so all I seem to think about is food!
I was overjoyed when it came time to fix dinner tonight, I was hungry!
Two boneless, skinless chicken breasts run through the food processor worked out to 6 chicken 'burgers'. They were SO good and I have one left over for lunch tomorrow.

Day 12 [Sleeping Penguins]

This was the scene on the hearth in the family room today while the little guy was in preschool. He had his penguins 'down for a nap'.

Day 11 [Herma Hands]

 I'm so proud!
Those hands around my Herma are that of my son, putting together a project for his Japanese class.
As an avid Scrapbooker, Herma is my adhesive of choice.
Seeing that my son can handle the Herma as well as me makes me wonder if he would ever use it to scrapbook. ;)

Day 10 [Chef Michel]

 Macaroni King, that's my husband!
Testing the creation he whipped up for our son's dinner.
Those special glasses are his key to the perfect Macaroni.

Day 9 [UW Crew]

Traveling across the 520 bridge (for you non-Washingtonians, that's one of the floating bridges on Lake Washington, between Seattle and Bellevue) this morning on our way to U Village I snapped what I assume is part of the UW crew team.
As you can see, a lovely day today in Seattle.

Day 8 [Fashionably Green]

 Grocery day!
Last year I went 'green' with the shopping bags.
I figured if I was going to go green, I was going to do it fashionably!
Love my pink polk-a-dot grocery bag....it's made from recycled water bottles!

Day 7 [Sunrise]

Sunrise out my front door @ 7:35 am

Day 6 [Ready, Aim, Fire!]

Watching a 5 year old boy during the day provides
many opportunities for fun!
Today we played with the Nerf guns inside the house!
gasp!
It was fun to shoot them on the ceiling and see how long it took them to fall down.

Days 2 thru 5

I am taking inspiration from my good friend Michelle's photo a day blog and using her format for my daily photos. I like the titles...thanks for always inspiring me Michelle!

Day 5 [Exercise]

If I'm going to reach my goal of 40 by forty I need to exercise.
Today is the return to fitness!

Day 4 [Homemade Goodness]

I usually get my morning drink from Starbucks, this morning I made my own 'high maintenance' hot chocolate along with a fresh blueberry scone.

Day 3 [Shredding Mania]

Today I spent a great deal of time starting the process of shredding some of the boxes of old paperwork we have had laying around for far too long!

Day 2 [The Boots]

Since the day I got them, it's all about the boots!
The comfort, the style, the love!

Day 1 [Penguin Storage]

 Photo a Day 2010 project.
I will not put the pressure upon myself to post a photo daily, but I will make the effort to post at least weekly.
Today's photo represents the storage of holiday decor.
I love all the little penguins!
